Sudharsan Learning Demands of No. 3 Role

I am understanding what a No. 3 player has to do for the team: Sudharsan
Promising left-hander Sai Sudharsan has expressed confidence in his evolving role as India’s No. 3 Test batter, saying he is gradually understanding the tactical and technical demands of the crucial position.
Speaking ahead of the India A vs South Africa A four-day match in Bengaluru, Sudharsan said he has been working on fine-tuning his footwork and approach to adapt to the challenges of batting at one of the most demanding spots in the lineup.
“I am refining quite a lot of my footwork from a technical point of view. But more importantly, I am understanding what a number three player has to do for the team. I am understanding the role better and trying to implement that,” Sudharsan said.
The 23-year-old has impressed selectors with his composure and technique, making a strong case for a long-term spot in the Indian Test side, which will face South Africa in a two-match home series later this month.
Sudharsan’s adaptability, temperament, and consistent run-scoring have made him a standout performer in domestic and A-level cricket, and his current focus on learning the nuances of the No. 3 role reflects a maturity beyond his years.
Cricket observers see his development as crucial for India’s middle order, especially with several senior batters nearing the latter stages of their careers.
