Odisha CM Announces Rs 1,000-Crore Package for Flood-Hit Farmers
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday announced a Rs 1,000-crore special assistance package for farmers affected by floods in six districts. At the same state-level programme, he disbursed over Rs 833 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer to 41.35 lakh small and marginal farmers and 13,949 landless agricultural families under the fifth instalment of the CM-KISAN scheme ahead of the rabi season. The assistance will help beneficiaries meet agricultural input costs, including seeds, fertilisers and pesticides.
Air India Fires Pilot After Drug Test
Air India has terminated the services of the pilot-in-command of its Phuket-Delhi flight after he tested positive for a psychoactive substance. The action followed an AAIB preliminary report that flagged the pilot's drug use as a serious safety concern. The August 4 flight, carrying 145 people, suffered a sudden loss of nearly 300 feet in altitude, leaving 24 people injured.
