President Murmu Addresses Closing Ceremony of Bharat Scouts and Guides Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu today graced the closing ceremony of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Bharat Scouts and Guides and addressed the organisation’s 19th National Jamboree held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
In her address, the President praised the organisation’s 75-year legacy of guiding and inspiring India’s youth to contribute to nation-building. She said the spirit of service remains the greatest strength of Scouts and Guides, who consistently step forward during floods, earthquakes, epidemics and other crises. She also lauded the organisation for promoting national unity and nurturing empowered, sensitive and socially committed youth.
Highlighting its scale, the President noted that India has more than 6.3 million Scouts and Guides, making Bharat Scouts and Guides one of the largest such organisations in the world. She expressed happiness that over 2.4 million of them are girls and commended their commitment to discipline, dedication and social welfare.
Underscoring the motto “Be Prepared,” President Murmu urged Scouts and Guides to build capabilities that help them face challenges with confidence—ranging from technical and communication skills to teamwork, problem-solving and leadership.
She said the youth are not only the architects of India’s future but also custodians of its cultural and civilisational heritage. Expressing confidence in their potential, she encouraged them to dedicate themselves to nation-building and illuminate the path for others, “just like a lamp lights several other lamps.
