PM Modi Chairs High-Level Meeting with Government Secretaries on National Security Preparedness
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired a high-level meeting with Secretaries from various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India to assess national preparedness and strengthen inter-ministerial coordination in light of recent national security developments.
During the meeting, PM Modi emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among ministries and agencies to ensure operational continuity and institutional resilience. He directed Secretaries to conduct a thorough review of their ministry’s operations and enhance emergency preparedness, focusing on readiness, internal communication protocols, and continuity of essential services.
The Secretaries presented detailed plans following a Whole-of-Government approach, highlighting the readiness of their respective ministries to manage a broad spectrum of emerging situations. Each ministry has identified key action points in relation to the current conflict scenario and is working to fortify operational systems.
Among the key issues discussed were the strengthening of civil defence mechanisms, countering misinformation and fake news, and securing critical infrastructure. Ministries were also advised to maintain close coordination with state governments and local institutions to ensure effective ground-level response.
Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretary, and Secretaries from critical ministries—including Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications—were present during the meeting.
PM Modi concluded the meeting by underscoring the need for heightened alertness, institutional synergy, and transparent communication. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to national security, operational preparedness, and the safety of all citizens.
