PM Modi Reiterates Commitment to Rhino Protection on World Rhino Day

On the occasion of World Rhino Day, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized India’s dedication to rhino conservation, urging citizens to take part in protecting this iconic species. He praised the ongoing efforts of individuals and organizations involved in rhino protection over the years.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi stated, “Today, on World Rhino Day, let us reiterate our commitment to protect one of our planet’s most iconic species—rhinos. Compliments to all those involved in rhino conservation efforts over the last many years.”
Highlighting India’s significance in rhino conservation, he expressed pride in the country’s population of one-horned rhinos, primarily found in Kaziranga National Park, Assam. He encouraged people to visit this UNESCO World Heritage site, saying, “I also fondly recall my visit to Kaziranga in Assam and urge you all to visit there as well.”
Kaziranga National Park is renowned for its successful conservation initiatives, contributing significantly to the recovery of the one-horned rhino population, which had faced severe threats from poaching and habitat loss. The Prime Minister’s call to action aims to raise awareness and foster a deeper connection between the public and wildlife conservation efforts.
As World Rhino Day celebrates the importance of these majestic animals, PM Modi’s message reinforces India’s commitment to preserving its rich biodiversity and protecting endangered species for future generations.
