Ministry of Earth Sciences Launches Preparations for Special Campaign 4.0 to Promote Cleanliness and Good Governance

The Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) has commenced preparations for the nationwide Special Campaign 4.0, set to be implemented from October 2nd to 31st, 2024. Aligned with the Swachh Bharat Mission spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the campaign emphasizes cleanliness, effective governance, and the reduction of pendency in government offices.
The preparatory phase of the campaign began on September 16th and will continue until September 30th, 2024. During this period, all institutions, including autonomous bodies and subordinate offices under MoES, are gearing up to ensure the success of this initiative.
Special Campaign 4.0 seeks to enhance workplace efficiency by addressing key governance areas such as cleanliness, space and record management, and redressal of pending grievances. It also aims to simplify rules and streamline internal processes, promoting transparency and waste reduction.
The campaign’s key activities include:
- Special Cleanliness Drives: MoES will conduct cleanliness campaigns at its headquarters and affiliated institutions across India, including research stations in the Arctic (Himadri) and Antarctic (Bharati and Maitri). Additionally, ocean research vessels will also participate. The Ministry will join the ongoing Swachhata Hi Sewa campaign, facilitating beach cleaning drives at nearly 80 locations to raise public awareness and encourage mass participation.
- Pending Grievances and Appeals: MoES will focus on resolving pending references and public grievances, aligning with the campaign’s goal to improve governance efficiency.
- Space and Record Management: A review of outdated files, disposal of scrap, and the simplification of administrative processes will be prioritized to create a more efficient and transparent workplace.
- Digital Governance: The Ministry will promote the use of e-office systems to reduce paperwork and enhance internal workflows through digital solutions.
The progress and updates of MoES’s activities under Special Campaign 4.0 will be made available on the Central Monitoring Portal (https://scdpm.nic.in/) and disseminated through MoES’s social media channels on X.com, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, using the hashtag #SpecialCampaign4.0.
This campaign marks a significant step towards reinforcing sustainable practices and efficient governance in government institutions across the nation.
