Odisha Launches Godabarisha Model School Scheme

CM Majhi Unveils Logo of Odisha’s ‘Godabarisha Model School’ Scheme

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday unveiled the official logo of the state government’s ambitious “Godabarisha Model School” scheme, a major initiative aimed at strengthening the education ecosystem and modernising infrastructure across rural areas.

The scheme seeks to transform learning environments by creating well-equipped, student-friendly model schools that offer modern, engaging and high-quality education.

Unveiling the logo, CM Majhi said the initiative will help enhance learning outcomes and make education more attractive for children. “These schools will make learning attractive and effective,” he remarked.

Massive Investment in First Phase

Under the first phase of the scheme, the government will invest around ₹12,000 crore to upgrade 2,200 schools. The investment will be spread across four financial years — from 2025–26 to 2028–29.

The schools will be established in villages within gram panchayats that have at least 5 acres of land and proper connectivity. Priority will be given to centrally located large villages that meet these criteria.

Logo Reflects Odia Culture & Legacy of Pandit Godabarisha Mishra

The newly launched logo is designed to reflect Odia cultural identity and the educational ideals of Pandit Godabarisha Mishra, after whom the scheme is named.
It features:

  • Open book – symbolizing learning and intellectual awakening
  • Pen nib – representing creativity and expression
  • Burning torch – signifying knowledge, truth and progress
  • Radiating rays – denoting morality and enlightenment
  • Circular design – symbolizing unity, inclusiveness and harmony
  • Three stars – representing knowledge, character and service

The emblem is bordered with the Odia script “Godabarisha Mishra Model Primary School”, reinforcing the state’s commitment to Odia language and heritage.

Holistic Development Focus

CM Majhi said the model schools will feature modern classrooms, digital learning tools, sports infrastructure, and facilities to ensure foundational literacy and numeracy. He emphasised that the scheme would significantly strengthen educational infrastructure in rural regions.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond added that the initiative is designed to support children academically as well as socially. He said the scheme will provide holistic development opportunities and help reshape rural education in Odisha.
