Odisha Govt Directs Oil Companies to Ensure Smooth, Timely Supply of LPG Cylinders

Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: The Odisha government has issued strict instructions to public sector oil marketing companies to ensure the smooth and timely delivery of LPG cylinders to consumers across the state.

At a review meeting with representatives of oil companies, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Department, stressed that there must be no compromise on prompt delivery of cooking gas cylinders. He directed the companies to maintain adequate LPG stock in Odisha and stabilise the supply chain to safeguard consumer interests.

Action Against Unsafe 5 KG Cylinders

Raising concerns about the availability of 5 KG LPG cylinders being sold without safety guarantees, Singh ordered officials to act immediately on such complaints. He also asked them to conduct regular inspections to curb black marketing, unauthorised filling points and other violations.

Uninterrupted Supply Chain Stressed

The Principal Secretary highlighted the need to ensure an uninterrupted LPG supply chain, addressing challenges faced by consumers, oil marketing companies and dealers. He instructed officials to advise the companies to create multiple supply sources to ensure continuity.

Senior officials including Indian Oil Chief General Manager Naro Tundup, HPCL Deputy General Manager M. N. Srinivas, BPCL State Head Raj Kumar Singh, Chief Manager Pranali Meshram, IOCL Chief Manager K. C. Seth, and Additional Director Salauddin Khan attended the meeting.
