Odisha CM Demands Apology from Congress Over Remarks on President Murmu

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday strongly criticized Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over their alleged remarks on President Droupadi Murmu, calling them an insult to the Santal community, the people of Odisha, and India’s democratic values.
Majhi demanded an immediate apology from the Congress party, stating that such comments were disrespectful to the country’s first tribal woman President.
In a post on X, the chief minister condemned the remarks, quoting Sonia Gandhi’s statement, “Poor lady President Murmu got tired at the end,” and Rahul Gandhi’s “boring” comment. He asserted that these statements not only demeaned President Murmu but also disrespected the tribal heritage she represents.
“The remarks made by Sonia and Rahul Gandhi are not just personal attacks but an insult to the Santal community, the people of Odisha, and the democratic ethos of the nation,” Majhi said.
The controversy has sparked strong reactions, with BJP leaders and tribal communities demanding an apology. Meanwhile, Congress has yet to respond to the criticism.
The issue has added to the ongoing political tensions between the BJP and Congress, especially in Odisha, where Droupadi Murmu hails from and holds deep cultural significance.
