The Odisha government has set an ambitious target of constructing 15,000 km of roads every year, aiming to build a total of 75,000 km over the next five years, Public Works Minister Prithviraj Harichandan announced on Friday.
Speaking after a high-level meeting of the department, Harichandan emphasized the government’s commitment to improving road infrastructure across the state. He stated that a comprehensive policy on road communication improvement will be formulated to address various challenges, including reducing road accidents.
“The BJP government in Odisha is determined to enhance connectivity in both urban and rural areas. Our goal is not just to build roads but to ensure safer and more efficient transportation for all,” he said.
The initiative is expected to boost economic activities, improve access to remote areas, and facilitate faster movement of goods and services. The government also plans to incorporate advanced technology and sustainable practices in road construction to enhance durability and efficiency.
With this large-scale infrastructure push, Odisha is set to witness a significant transformation in its transport sector, benefiting commuters, businesses, and industries alike.
