Odisha Charts Path for Inclusive and Sustainable Agricultural Reforms

Odisha is poised to lead the nation in inclusive and sustainable agricultural reforms, said Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo during a policy roundtable held on Friday.

The event, titled “Advancing Inclusive Agricultural Transformation in Odisha,” focused on fostering innovative strategies and collaborations to build a resilient agricultural sector. Over 100 participants, including policymakers, researchers, and development practitioners, attended the roundtable to exchange ideas and insights on sustainable agricultural transformation.

Addressing the gathering, Singh Deo emphasized the importance of integrating innovation and partnerships to enhance Odisha’s agricultural landscape. He highlighted the state’s commitment to ensuring inclusive growth that benefits all stakeholders, particularly small-scale farmers.

The roundtable was organized by the Odisha government in collaboration with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and the CGIAR Initiative on National Policies and Strategies (NPS).

Key discussions revolved around improving productivity, ensuring equitable access to resources, and addressing the challenges posed by climate change to agriculture. Participants deliberated on ways to align policy frameworks with the goal of sustainable agricultural development.

Odisha’s efforts reflect its proactive stance in addressing critical issues in agriculture and its determination to lead by example in driving reforms that benefit the broader community.
