Odisha Celebrates Republic Day with Pride

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati Unfurls National Flag on Republic Day

Bhubaneswar, Jan 26 : Odisha celebrated the 75th Republic Day with great fervor and patriotism as Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati unfurled the National Flag at the state-level function organized at Mahatma Gandhi Marg, Bhubaneswar, on Sunday.

The event featured ten tableaux highlighting themes of patriotism, cultural heritage, and Odisha’s development strides in sectors such as rural growth, technology, and education. The parade saw the participation of 49 contingents, including a daredevil motorcycle show by students of Maharishi College of Natural Law and skating performances by Odisha Skating Academy. Cultural highlights included traditional Santali dances and performances by Ghoda and Dhemsa troupes, which captivated the audience.

At the district-level function in Cuttack, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi unfurled the National Flag at Bidanasi Mini Stadium. In his address, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transforming Odisha and its villages. “Villages are the soul of our state. A ₹5,000 crore plan over the next five years will prioritize infrastructure development in rural areas, empowering villagers to drive their own growth,” he stated.

Majhi outlined key initiatives under his government, including opening the four doors of the Jagannath Temple for devotees, setting up a ₹500 crore temple management fund, and implementing Subhadra Yojana to empower women. Under the scheme, ₹10,000 will be provided annually to over one crore mothers for five years, benefitting 80 lakh women so far.

The Chief Minister also announced a ₹3,100 per quintal paddy procurement scheme for farmers and compensation for crop losses caused by unseasonal rains, declared as a state disaster. Looking ahead, he emphasized the government’s focus on an industrial revolution, healthcare, and education development in Odisha.

“Instead of exporting raw minerals, the government is committed to attracting investments to add value and bring an industrial revolution to the state,” Majhi said, expressing optimism for Odisha’s “golden age” in the next five years, driven by the double-engine government.

The event concluded with a call to unity and a pledge to make Odisha a prosperous state by 2036 and contribute to a stronger nation by 2047, following the principles of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
