MCL to Provide 20,617 Dual Desks to 809 Schools in Sambalpur
Bhubaneswar, Jan 26: In a major boost to elementary education, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the District Administration of Sambalpur for Project ‘Sikshotthan.’ This transformative initiative aims to benefit over 41,000 students across 809 elementary schools in Sambalpur, Western Odisha.
The MoU, signed during a ceremony held on the International Day of Education, commits ₹20.5 crores from MCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund for the procurement of 20,617 dual desks. The desks will be distributed to schools across the district, enhancing the learning environment for young students.
The agreement was officially signed by the Collector of Sambalpur and MCL’s General Manager (CSR). This initiative underscores MCL’s dedication to CSR, particularly in the education sector, and its focus on uplifting local communities.
The provision of dual desks is expected to significantly improve classroom infrastructure, offering students a more comfortable and conducive learning environment. This will support their academic growth and overall well-being, aligning with the objectives of Project ‘Sikshotthan.’
