H-1B Visa Fee Hike to Affect Future Hiring Plans, Not Immediate Operations: Tata Tech CEO

The recent H-1B visa fee hike announced by the Donald Trump administration will not have an immediate impact on Tata Technologies Ltd, though it may influence the company’s future hiring and resourcing plans, according to its CEO and Managing Director Warren Harris.

Speaking to PTI, Harris said the global product engineering and digital services firm remains relatively insulated from visa-related disruptions due to its diversified workforce model.

“We are not an India-out company. We are a global organization where about 70 percent of employees in any given country are nationals of that country,” Harris explained. “We have Americans leading our US operations and a Chinese team running our China business, unlike many Indian competitors who are heavily India-out and hence more exposed to visa challenges.”

Harris emphasized that while the fee hike may affect cost structures and mobility planning in the long term, Tata Technologies’ localized staffing approach allows it to operate smoothly across markets without major disruptions.

The CEO reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding its global engineering and digital capabilities, adding that Tata Technologies will continue to adapt its workforce strategy in line with evolving regulatory and economic trends.
