Banbasa Land Port Project to Boost India-Nepal Trade and Border Development: CM Dhami

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday said the upcoming Banbasa Land Port Project in Champawat district will significantly enhance India-Nepal cooperation, boost cross-border trade, and accelerate the development of border areas.

After inspecting the project site at Gudmi in Banbasa, Dhami said the modern facility—being developed by the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI)—will serve as a vital gateway for trade and connectivity between the two neighbouring nations.

“More than Rs 500 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase of construction, which will transform Banbasa into a major hub for bilateral commerce and logistics,” Dhami said.

He added that the project will also contribute to infrastructure development, improve transport efficiency, and generate employment opportunities for local communities.

Once completed, the Banbasa Land Port is expected to streamline trade operations, strengthen economic ties with Nepal, and promote regional growth in Uttarakhand’s border regions.
