Gunfight Erupts Between Security Forces and Maoists at Odisha-Chhattisgarh Border

A major gunfight broke out on Monday morning between security forces and Maoists at the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, officials confirmed.
The confrontation took place in the Kularighat reserve forest, located at the inter-state border, in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh, which is adjacent to Odisha’s Nuapada district.
Following intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the police forces of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, along with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), to counter the Maoist presence in the region.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of casualties, but the operation is ongoing, and reinforcements have been sent to the area to assist in the operation.
The Kularighat forest is a known Maoist stronghold, and the security forces have intensified their efforts in recent months to root out Naxal activities in the region.
Local sources reported that the gunfight continues in the dense forest area, with security forces attempting to flush out the Maoists. Further updates are awaited as the operation unfolds.
