DDCA sacks Ashu Dani over IHPL row

DDCA Sacks U-19 Chairman Ashu Dani Over IHPL T20 League Controversy

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has removed Ashu Dani, the chairman of its Under-19 selection committee, over his alleged involvement in the Indian Heavens Premier League (IHPL) — a privately organised T20 tournament held in Kashmir. The move comes amid growing concerns over conflict of interest and the league’s financial irregularities.

Dani, a former Delhi opener, was accused of holding a symbolic position as IHPL’s president, though he has denied any active role in the event’s organisation. However, the controversy deepened after several international players, including Chris Gayle, Jesse Ryder, and Parvez Rasool, reportedly complained of unpaid dues, damaging the credibility of the league.

Videos circulating on social media also show Dani attending a press conference alongside former India player Surinder Khanna, who is also alleged to have ties with the IHPL management.

A senior DDCA official confirmed that the association decided to terminate Dani’s position to uphold the integrity of its selection process and maintain transparency.

The DDCA is likely to announce a new chairman for the U-19 selection committee in the coming days as it looks to restore faith in its cricket administration.
