CM vows financial independence for women

Odisha working to make every woman financially independent: CM Majhi
BHUBANESWAR, Nov 1: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering women across the state, saying that the ultimate goal was to ensure every woman becomes financially independent, self-reliant, and capable of entrepreneurship.
Inaugurating the second edition of the Subhadra Shakti Mela in Bhubaneswar, Majhi said the event was an important platform to showcase women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship under the state government’s flagship Subhadra Yojana. The mela, which will continue till November 12, features participation from women entrepreneurs, self-help groups (SHGs), and artisans from different districts.
“Our goal is to create a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and make it the growth engine of a developed India by 2047. This will be possible only when the power of our lakhs of Subhadra mothers is awakened. They will be empowered, and their valuable contribution will be in every field of development,” Majhi said.
He further emphasized that the state government’s policies were focused on strengthening women’s participation in economic activities, promoting entrepreneurship, and providing access to markets and skill development opportunities.
The Subhadra Shakti Mela has been organized to promote products made by women’s self-help groups and provide them with greater exposure and sales opportunities. Visitors can explore a wide range of local handicrafts, handlooms, food items, and eco-friendly products made by women entrepreneurs during the 12-day fair.
Officials from the Mission Shakti Department and various women’s organizations were present during the inauguration ceremony.
