Bhardwaj channels angst in O’ Romeo

Bhardwaj explores personal angst in ‘O’ Romeo’, promises poetic tone in ‘Lust Stories 3’
Acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj has revealed that his upcoming project O’ Romeo served as a deeply personal creative outlet, allowing him to channel his inner turmoil through its narrative and characters.
Known for critically acclaimed films such as Maqbool, Omkara, Kaminey, and Haider, Bhardwaj said the decision to infuse “O’ Romeo” with personal angst was deliberate.
Speaking in an interview, the director explained that cinema offered him a way to express emotions that cannot be voiced or acted upon in real life. “There are people you can’t confront or emotions you can’t express openly, so I chose to explore that angst through storytelling,” he said.
The film, starring Shahid Kapoor, becomes a medium for Bhardwaj to translate his internal conflicts into a cinematic experience.
Looking ahead, Bhardwaj shared that he will shift gears creatively with Lust Stories 3, where he plans to return to a more poetic and nuanced storytelling style. The anthology, part of the popular “Lust Stories” franchise, is expected to showcase a different tonal approach compared to the intensity of “O’ Romeo”.
The filmmaker’s remarks highlight his evolving creative journey, balancing raw emotional expression with lyrical storytelling, as he continues to experiment with themes and narrative forms in his cinema.
