C R Patil Advances Gujarat’s Green Energy Drive with CBG Plants in Dairy Cooperatives

Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil has taken a significant step toward advancing Gujarat’s green energy initiatives by meeting with chairpersons and managing directors of the state’s dairy cooperatives. The meeting focused on harnessing the transformative potential of Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants, which aim to convert cattle dung and organic waste into sustainable energy and organic manure.
The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of turning waste into wealth and is expected to drive both environmental and economic benefits. Patil emphasized the dairy sector’s crucial role in enhancing energy efficiency, stating, “India’s dairy sector is the backbone of rural livelihoods. By adopting green technologies like CBG production, we not only reduce our carbon footprint but also create new income opportunities for farmers and cooperatives, including carbon credits.”
The CBG plants are part of a broader push for cleaner, renewable energy sources, and are expected to help farmers diversify their income streams. By processing organic waste into biogas, the initiative will provide an eco-friendly solution to waste management while supporting rural economic growth.
The government’s focus on CBG technology is part of a broader commitment to sustainable development and green energy, ensuring that India remains on track to meet its climate goals. The collaboration with Gujarat’s dairy cooperatives is seen as a model for other states looking to implement similar green energy solutions in the rural economy.
As India moves toward a more sustainable and energy-efficient future, the integration of green technologies in sectors like dairy farming is set to play a pivotal role in reducing the country’s carbon footprint and enhancing rural prosperity.
