Over 7 Crore Pilgrims Bathe at Sangam During Maha Kumbh from Jan 11 to 16

The Maha Kumbh Mela has witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with over 7 crore pilgrims taking a holy dip at the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers—between January 11 and January 16, according to an official statement.

The spiritual gathering, one of the largest in the world, has drawn devotees from across India and around the globe. On January 11, an estimated 45 lakh pilgrims bathed at the Sangam, while January 12 saw a record 65 lakh devotees. The first day of the Maha Kumbh Mela saw 1.70 crore people immersing themselves in the sacred waters, followed by around 3.50 crore devotees on January 14.

The Uttar Pradesh government had projected that over 45 crore people would attend the Maha Kumbh this year, and the early turnout strongly suggests the figure may be reached. On January 16 alone, more than 30 lakh pilgrims participated in the ritual, seeking divine blessings and spiritual merit.

The Maha Kumbh Mela is a symbol of India’s rich spiritual heritage, and the massive congregation at the Sangam signifies the enduring importance of the festival in the lives of millions. Devotees believe bathing in the holy confluence cleanses them of sins and brings them closer to divine salvation.

The event has transformed the region into a vibrant spiritual hub, with thousands of temporary camps, rituals, and religious discourses taking place alongside the sacred dips. The smooth coordination of state authorities has ensured the safety and comfort of the vast number of pilgrims, with proper arrangements for transport, healthcare, and sanitation in place.

As the Maha Kumbh Mela continues, the confluence remains a beacon of faith and unity for millions, transcending geographical boundaries and drawing people from every corner of the world.
