UP Government Committed to Transforming Sonbhadra into a Green Energy Hub: CM Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to transforming Sonbhadra into a leading green energy hub. During his visit to the district, Adityanath hailed Sonbhadra as the “Switzerland of India” and referred to it as the state’s “energy capital.”

Adityanath’s remarks came during the closing ceremony of the Vidhayak Khel Maha Kumbh 2024-25, held in Robertsganj, Sonbhadra. The Chief Minister emphasized the district’s vital role in Uttar Pradesh’s energy sector, highlighting that Sonbhadra alone generates 12,000 MW of electricity. This substantial energy contribution has earned the district the title of the state’s energy capital, positioning it as a key player in the nation’s green energy future.

The Uttar Pradesh government is focused on harnessing the district’s natural resources to promote renewable energy initiatives, including solar and wind power projects. Adityanath stressed that the holistic development of Sonbhadra would involve creating a sustainable energy ecosystem that would not only meet the state’s growing energy needs but also contribute to India’s broader green energy goals.

He further reiterated that the transformation of Sonbhadra into a green energy hub would foster economic growth, improve employment opportunities, and make the region a model for sustainable development in India.

With its abundant natural resources and proximity to key energy infrastructure, Sonbhadra is poised to play a central role in Uttar Pradesh’s energy transition, helping to drive the state’s and India’s ambitions for a sustainable future.
