BJP files cyber complaint over remarks

Odisha BJP Files Cyber Complaint Over “Obscene” Social Media Posts Targeting PM, CM
The Odisha unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday lodged a formal complaint with the Cyber Police Station here against social worker Sandeep Singh and BJD leader Manmath Rout for allegedly posting obscene, indecent and misleading remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on social media.

A BJP delegation led by party Vice President Jatin Mohanty submitted two separate complaints, urging strict legal action under cyber laws.

Mohanty alleged that Sandeep Singh, who claims to be a social worker, shared false and defamatory allegations against the Prime Minister on platform X, calling it a “punishable offence.”
He further claimed that BJD leader Manmath Rout used “extremely indecent” language against both PM Modi and CM Majhi during the Nuapada by-election. According to the BJP, the video initially posted on Rout’s Facebook account was widely circulated across social media, amplifying the alleged offence.

“The misuse of social media by both individuals to insult the Prime Minister and Chief Minister cannot be tolerated,” Mohanty said, demanding prosecution and arrest of the accused.

Cyber Police have acknowledged receipt of the complaints and begun preliminary verification, officials said.
