‘Bihar Kokila’ Sharda Sinha Cremated with Full State Honours in Patna

Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, known as ‘Bihar Kokila’, was cremated with full state honours in Patna on Thursday. The last rites were conducted at the Gulbi Ghat crematorium in Patna’s Mahendru area, where her son, Anshuman Sinha, performed the emotional final rituals.

The atmosphere at the crematorium was filled with grief as hundreds of fans gathered to pay their last respects to the legendary singer. Senior BJP leader and former Union minister Ashwani Choubey was among those who attended the cremation to honor Sinha’s contribution to Bihar’s cultural heritage.

Sinha, who passed away earlier this week, was widely admired for her soulful renditions of traditional Bhojpuri and Maithili folk songs. Her voice and music had a deep influence on the cultural fabric of Bihar, earning her the title of ‘Bihar Kokila’ (Cuckoo of Bihar).

Her death has left a void in the world of folk music, with fans and admirers from across the state mourning the loss of a cultural icon.
