Akhilesh Yadav Slams BJP Over Agnipath

Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing the ruling party of denying the nation’s youth the opportunity for full military service through its controversial Agnipath recruitment scheme.

Speaking at the SP headquarters during a gathering of party leaders and workers from various districts, Yadav praised the Indian Army for its unwavering commitment and success in fulfilling every mission. However, he criticized the BJP government for undermining the spirit of service by implementing the Agnipath scheme.

“The Indian Army has always completed every mission with courage and dedication,” Yadav said. “But the BJP government introduced the Agnipath scheme, which has deprived young people of the opportunity for full and honorable military service.”

Yadav further alleged that the BJP thrives on “a web of lies” and claimed that the public has now seen through the government’s propaganda. “It is this web of lies that will ultimately remove the BJP from power,” he declared.

The Agnipath scheme, launched in 2022, introduced short-term contractual recruitment into the armed forces, drawing criticism from opposition parties and youth groups who argue it limits long-term career prospects and undermines the dignity of military service.

Yadav reiterated his party’s opposition to the scheme and called for its immediate rollback. The issue is expected to remain a key point of contention in the run-up to future electoral battles.
