Yemeni Man Undergoes Life-Saving Tumor Surgery

Yemeni Man with 10.3 Kg Stomach Tumor Undergoes Life-Saving Surgery in Indi

A 58-year-old Yemeni man, Md Abdullah Hussain, who was initially told his condition was untreatable due to a massive 10.3 kg tumor in his stomach, has been given a new lease on life after undergoing successful surgery in India.

Hussain had been suffering from severe abdominal pain, black stools, weakness, and anemia for months. After being turned away by multiple hospitals due to the tumor’s size and complexity, he sought treatment at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram.

Dr. Amit Javed, Senior Director of Gastrointestinal Oncology, Minimal Access, and Bariatric Surgery, led a six-hour-long procedure to remove the tumor and reconstruct a new stomach.

The complex surgery marks a significant medical achievement, offering hope to patients with rare and critical conditions.
