Vohra’s 72 leads Chandigarh past Maharashtra

Vohra’s 72 powers Chandigarh to five-wicket win; Hyderabad, MP register victories
A blistering 48-ball 72 from opener Manan Vohra set up Chandigarh’s five-wicket victory over Maharashtra in an Elite Group B clash of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Sunday.
Chasing a modest target of 140, Vohra anchored the innings with authority, striking cleanly and keeping the scoreboard moving despite regular pressure from Maharashtra’s attack. His effort ensured Chandigarh crossed the finish line comfortably with wickets and deliveries to spare.
Earlier, Maharashtra were restricted to 139/7 after being put in to bat. Opener Arshin Kulkarni top-scored with a steady 41-ball 47, while Nikhil Naik (24) and Vicky Ostwal (28) provided useful contributions. But the innings never gained real momentum as Chandigarh’s bowlers kept things tight throughout.
Sandeep Sharma led the attack with an impressive 2/18, while Jagjit Singh (1/25), Nikhil Sharma (1/23), Rahul Singh (1/29) and Bhagmender Lather (1/27) picked up a wicket each to keep Maharashtra in check.
In other Group B matches, Hyderabad and Madhya Pradesh also notched up important wins to strengthen their positions in the tournament.
