Vice-President Lauds Labour Reforms, Youth Empowerment and Sports Promotion Efforts
Calls youth exchange programmes vital for strengthening Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat
Vice-President Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan today lauded the government’s initiatives in labour reforms, youth development and sports promotion, terming them crucial pillars for building an inclusive and progressive India.
Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, along with Ministers of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje and Smt. Raksha Nikhil Khadse, called on the Vice-President at Parliament House and briefed him on major policy reforms and programmes being implemented by their ministries.
The Vice-President was apprised of the Ministry of Labour & Employment’s comprehensive measures to ensure decent working conditions, enhance employability, strengthen social security and promote harmonious industrial relations. The officials highlighted key initiatives including the E-Shram Portal, Shram Suvidha Portal, Pradhan Mantri Vikshit Bharat Rozgar Yojana, and National Career Service Portal.
Commending the Ministry’s efforts to simplify labour laws and improve worker welfare, Shri Radhakrishnan said these reforms would play a pivotal role in fostering inclusive economic growth. He appreciated the government’s focus on expanding universal social security and creating new employment opportunities across sectors.
The Vice-President was also briefed on the initiatives of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, such as the National Youth Policy, Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), National Service Scheme, Youth Hostels, and National Youth Awards. He hailed the MY Bharat platform for digitally connecting youth nationwide and encouraging their participation in nation-building.
Highlighting the significance of youth exchange programmes, the Vice-President said such efforts promote cultural understanding and reinforce the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. He also appreciated innovative youth engagement initiatives such as Youth 20 (Y20), Meri Maati Mera Desh, Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2025 (VBYLD-2025), and Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.
The Vice-President was further briefed on flagship sports schemes including Khelo India, Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS), Assistance to National Sports Federations, Khelo Bharat Niti, and the One Corporate One Sport CSR model.
Applauding India’s athletes—particularly women sportspersons—for their stellar performances on global platforms, Shri Radhakrishnan praised the growing contribution of the corporate sector in nurturing sports talent.
He observed that hosting major international sporting events, including the Olympic Games, would be a game-changer for Indian sports, boosting development and global recognition.
“The collective efforts of these ministries embody the vision of empowering every worker, youth, and athlete to contribute meaningfully to India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat,” the Vice-President remarked.
