Local Cuisine to Be Served on Vande Bharat Trains; Fake Account Crackdown Shows Results

Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw today reviewed operations at Rail Bhawan, emphasizing improvements in passenger services and ticketing security. Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, was also present.

Shri Vaishnaw directed officials to introduce local cuisine in Vande Bharat trains, enhancing the travel experience by offering food reflecting regional tastes and culture. He noted that this facility will be progressively expanded to all trains in the future.

The Union Minister also highlighted the success of Indian Railways’ crackdown on fake IRCTC accounts. Following the introduction of a robust system to verify user identities, new user ID creation has dropped from nearly one lakh per day to just 5,000 daily.

This initiative has already led to the deactivation of 3.03 crore fake accounts, while 2.7 crore additional IDs have been temporarily suspended or flagged for suspicious activity.

Officials were directed to further strengthen the ticketing system to ensure seamless bookings for genuine users while preventing misuse through fake accounts, making travel safer and more convenient for all passengers.
