UPSC Announces Final Results of Civil Services Examination 2024
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024. A total of 1009 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various prestigious services, including the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and Central Services Group ‘A’ and ‘B’.
The examination, which began with the Civil Services Preliminary Exam in June 2024, saw 9,92,599 candidates applying, out of which 5,83,213 appeared for the test. After the written (main) examination in September, 14,627 candidates qualified to appear for the Personality Test, which was conducted from January to April 2025. Among those, 1009 candidates, including 284 women, have emerged successful.
The top five candidates include three women and two men. Ms. Shakti Dubey secured the top rank, followed by Ms. Harshita Goyal in second place. Sh. Dongre Archit Parag secured third rank, while Ms. Shah Margi Chirag and Sh. Aakash Garg claimed fourth and fifth ranks respectively. The top 25 candidates feature a diverse mix of educational backgrounds ranging from engineering and science to humanities, with graduates from prestigious institutions like IITs, NITs, and the University of Delhi.
This year’s results also reflect UPSC’s commitment to inclusivity, with 45 candidates with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) included in the recommended list. The total number of vacancies to be filled is 1129, and appointments will be made in accordance with the available positions in various services.
The detailed results and candidates’ marks will be available on the UPSC website within 15 days of the announcement. The UPSC has also maintained a reserve list with 230 candidates, which may be used in case of any further vacancies.
The success of these candidates underscores the growing diversity and excellence in the Civil Services and highlights the rigorous selection process of India’s most competitive examination.
