Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Visits Australia to Foster India-Australia Educational Ties

Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, is currently on an official visit to Australia, enhancing collaborations between Indian and Australian educational institutions. On October 25, Shri Pradhan visited the Macquarie Park Innovation District at Macquarie University, Sydney, where he was welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Bruce Dowton. Shri Pradhan lauded the University’s unique support for researchers and entrepreneurs, highlighting its industry collaborations and partnerships with Indian institutions. He emphasized that such academia-industry linkages are essential to fostering innovation and preparing students for global success.

Later, in an interaction organized by the Group of Eight, Shri Pradhan engaged with Indian students studying across Australia, many of whom are researching advanced fields like AI in manufacturing, med-tech, and climate change. He praised the students’ dedication to both countries’ futures and underscored that research collaboration is a fundamental pillar of the India-Australia partnership.

Shri Pradhan also visited the University of New South Wales (UNSW), congratulating it on its 75th anniversary and its longstanding relationship with Indian students. He met with start-ups incubated at UNSW and encouraged them to develop solutions tailored to India’s market needs. Additionally, Shri Pradhan explored UTS Moore Park at the University of Technology, Sydney, a unique sports precinct integrating academic programs with elite sporting facilities. Here, he discussed potential collaborations between UTS and Indian institutions for sports management and research initiatives.

The Minister’s Australia visit, running from October 22 to 26, follows his meetings in Singapore, where he engaged with officials on expanding skill-based education. His visit underlines India’s commitment to fostering educational collaboration and enhancing research synergies with Australia, aligning with mutual interests in innovation and skill development.
