CSIR-NIScPR Celebrates 9th Ayurveda Day, Emphasizes Fusion of Traditional Knowledge and Modern Science

The CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) celebrated the 9th Ayurveda Day on October 25, highlighting the vital role of Ayurveda in modern healthcare. Held at CSIR-NIScPR’s S.V. Marg Campus, the event commenced with a tree-planting drive titled “Ek Ped Maa ke Naam.” Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director of CSIR-NIScPR, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing India’s deep-rooted knowledge systems dating back to ancient centers of learning like Nalanda and Takshashila. She also introduced CSIR-NIScPR’s SVASTIK initiative, which shares case studies on traditional Indian knowledge with society.
Dr. Bhavana Prasher, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IGIB, presented a lecture on “Ayurgenomics and Prakriti,” focusing on integrating Ayurveda and modern science to personalize healthcare. A health check-up and Prakriti Parikshan camp were also held in collaboration with the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), offering insights into Ayurveda’s role in disease prevention and holistic health. The event celebrated Ayurveda’s ongoing contribution to India’s cultural heritage and its relevance to contemporary health practices.
