Tata Advanced Systems Delivers Advanced Naval Air Surveillance Radar to Indian Navy
Tata Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL), in collaboration with engineering major Indra, has successfully manufactured and delivered an advanced naval air surveillance radar to the Indian Navy, marking a significant milestone in indigenous defence technology.
The 3D Air Surveillance Radar (3D-ASR) – Lanza-N – was commissioned aboard an Indian Navy warship, making TASL the first Indian company capable of building and integrating next-generation naval surveillance radar systems.
“This achievement underscores India’s growing self-reliance in defence technologies and strengthens the Navy’s maritime surveillance capabilities,” TASL said in an official statement.
The radar system, developed in collaboration with Indra, is expected to significantly enhance situational awareness, target tracking, and overall maritime security. Defence experts hailed the delivery as a major step forward in India’s push for advanced indigenisation of critical defence systems.
With this development, India joins a select group of countries capable of producing sophisticated naval surveillance radar systems domestically, reducing dependence on foreign suppliers for critical defence technologies.
