Subhadra Yojana Empowers Women in Odisha

Subhadra Yojana to Transform Lives of Women in Odisha: CM Mohan Charan Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has reiterated his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, stating that the Subhadra Yojana will bring significant transformation in the lives of mothers and sisters across Odisha. Addressing a gathering in Jajpur on Saturday, Majhi distributed financial assistance of Rs. 5,000 each to 18 lakh new beneficiaries under the scheme’s fourth phase.

Highlighting the critical role of women in Odisha’s progress, the Chief Minister emphasized that they are key partners in the state’s development journey. “The objective of Subhadra Yojana is to accelerate social progress by harnessing the power, potential, and talent of women. Their socio-economic upliftment will help realize the dream of a prosperous Odisha,” he stated.

The Subhadra Yojana, the largest women’s empowerment scheme in Odisha, has already benefited 80 lakh women across three phases. With the addition of 18 lakh new beneficiaries, the first installment has now reached a total of 98 lakh women. Under the scheme, eligible mothers will receive Rs. 50,000 in two installments of Rs. 10,000 per year for five years.

CM Majhi urged beneficiaries to invest the funds in businesses and skill development rather than utilizing them for daily household expenses. He also highlighted the government’s efforts in enhancing women’s skills, mentioning collaborations with the World Skill Centre and IIM Sambalpur under the Odisha Utkarsha program.

“A developed Odisha is only possible when our women are socially and economically empowered,” Majhi said, underscoring that women in the state are increasingly gaining recognition and awareness of their rights.

Deputy Chief Minister and Women and Child Development Minister Parvati Parida echoed the CM’s sentiments, asserting that the Subhadra Yojana will serve as a major source of livelihood for women in the years to come.

With the government’s proactive approach, the Subhadra Yojana is set to play a crucial role in strengthening women’s economic independence and contributing to the overall development of Odisha.
