Study Reveals Over 50% of Healthcare Workers Feel Unsafe at Work
A recent survey has revealed that more than 50% of healthcare workers perceive their workplaces as “unsafe,” with particular concerns raised in state and central government medical colleges. The study, conducted by experts from Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC), Safdarjung Hospital, and AIIMS, New Delhi, sheds light on “significant gaps” in security infrastructure within Indian healthcare settings.
Titled “Workplace Safety and Security in Indian Healthcare Settings: A Cross-Sectional Survey,” the study was published in a recent issue of the journal Epidemiology International. It emphasizes the urgent need to enhance safety and security measures to protect healthcare professionals and ensure a conducive working environment.
The findings of the survey highlight a critical issue that not only affects healthcare workers but also impacts the quality of care provided to patients. Stakeholders in the healthcare sector are urged to address these safety concerns and implement effective strategies to improve workplace security.
