Shah Rukh salutes Russell after IPL retirement

Shah Rukh Khan pens heartfelt note for Andre Russell after IPL retirement

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday shared an emotional message for West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell, who announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League ahead of the December 16 mini auction. Russell, a long-time pillar of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will now transition into the franchise’s support staff as a “power coach”.

Responding to Russell’s post on X, Shah Rukh expressed gratitude for the cricketer’s immense contribution to KKR, calling it “one for the books”. The actor, who co-owns the franchise, also thanked Russell for the unforgettable moments he created over the years and said the team is “what it is today because of players like him”.

Russell, who joined KKR in 2014, became one of the league’s most destructive hitters and a fan favourite for his match-winning performances. His move to the coaching setup marks a new chapter in his association with the team he has represented for nearly a decade.

The mini auction for IPL 2025 is slated for December 16.
