Sanjay Bangar Says Selectors Will Be Vindicated If India Win England Series

Mumbai, May 24 — Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has expressed confidence that the decisions made by the selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, will be justified if the Indian Test team under new captain Shubman Gill manages to win the upcoming series in England.

India’s record in away Test series against England is historic but rare, with only three series wins in 90 years — in 1971, 1986, and 2007. A victory this time would mark a significant milestone.

“If this group of players manages to win a Test series in England, I think that’s going to be a great start for his (Gill’s) leadership tenure,” Bangar said in an interview with JioHotstar after Gill was officially named India’s new Test skipper.

Bangar’s remarks underline the high expectations placed on the young captain and the new team setup as they prepare to face one of cricket’s toughest challenges. The series win would not only boost the team’s confidence but also validate the selectors’ faith in the squad and leadership choices.
