Rohit to Lead India Colts at Sultan of Johor Cup Hockey

Defender Rohit has been named captain of the Indian junior hockey team for the upcoming Sultan of Johor Cup in Malaysia, scheduled from October 11 to 18. The team aims to improve upon their bronze-winning performance in the previous edition of the tournament.

The Sultan of Johor Cup will serve as a crucial preparatory platform for India ahead of the Junior World Cup, which is set to take place in Chennai and Madurai from November 28 to December 10.

India will kick off their campaign against Great Britain on October 11, followed by a match against New Zealand on October 12. A high-voltage clash with arch-rivals Pakistan is scheduled for October 14, before facing Australia on October 15.

Rohit’s leadership will be pivotal as the team looks to combine experience and young talent to challenge the top junior sides in the tournament. Analysts believe a strong showing at the Sultan of Johor Cup could provide momentum ahead of the Junior World Cup.
