Rohit Shetty announces ‘Golmaal 5’, Akshay Kumar joins cast

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty on Saturday announced the fifth instalment of the popular comedy franchise Golmaal, marking a new chapter in one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy series. The director made the announcement on the occasion of his 52nd birthday, revealing that filming for Golmaal 5 will begin soon.

Shetty shared the news through a heartfelt note and video on his Instagram handle, reflecting on the journey of the franchise over the past two decades. He credited the audience for the immense success of the series and the impact it has had on his career.

“Twenty years ago, the first Golmaal was released, a film that changed my life. The credit goes to you, my audience,” Shetty wrote. “Over the past 20 years, we have entertained you, and yes, sometimes disappointed you, but we have always been honest in our work. So now, once again, my fabulous team and I are set on a journey to entertain you as we start filming G5.”

Adding to the excitement, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar is set to join the cast of the upcoming film. While details about his role and the full cast are yet to be revealed, the announcement has already generated buzz among fans of the franchise.

The Golmaal series, which began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, became a major hit and was followed by successful sequels including Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and Golmaal Again. Known for its slapstick humour, ensemble cast and high-energy storytelling, the franchise has remained a fan favourite.
