Rishab Shetty: Regional Cinema Can Be Universal, Says ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Star

Actor-director Rishab Shetty on Wednesday said the massive success of his film Kantara: Chapter 1 underscores that regional cinema can resonate with audiences universally.

Speaking about the film’s performance, Shetty said, “The overwhelming response reaffirms my belief that regional narratives, when told with authenticity and passion, can connect with audiences everywhere.”

At the global box office, Kantara: Chapter 1 has emerged as a runaway success, grossing ₹427.5 crore within six days of release, further cementing its status as a cultural and commercial phenomenon.

The film’s triumph adds to the growing recognition of regional cinema in India, proving that compelling stories rooted in local culture can achieve universal appeal.
