Prime Minister Modi Hails World Food India 2024 as a Global Platform for Innovation and Sustainability

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today extended his greetings to the participants of World Food India 2024, highlighting the event as a dynamic platform for global collaboration and exchange of knowledge in the food sector. The Prime Minister praised the participation of various nations, signifying the global interest in India’s rapidly growing food ecosystem.

In his message, Prime Minister Modi recognized the significant role of Indian farmers in shaping the country’s rich and diverse food culture. He emphasized that the farmers are the backbone of India’s food ecosystem, crediting their dedication for creating nutritious and flavorful traditions of culinary excellence. “We are supporting their hard work with innovative policies and focused implementation,” he said.

Reflecting on India’s efforts in the food sector, the Prime Minister spoke of the government’s approach to modernize agriculture and food processing through progressive policies and cutting-edge technologies. “India is setting global benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and safety in the food sector,” Modi stated, reaffirming the nation’s commitment to the use of advanced agricultural practices and robust administrative frameworks.

Over the past decade, India has undertaken comprehensive reforms to transform its food processing industry. Highlighting initiatives like 100% FDI in food processing, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, and the Production Linked Incentive scheme, the Prime Minister noted that these steps are creating a solid ecosystem of modern infrastructure, employment generation, and supply chains across the country.

Prime Minister Modi also underscored the importance of empowering small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the sector, particularly emphasizing the need to integrate these enterprises into global value chains and encourage women’s entrepreneurship.

World Food India 2024 serves as an ideal platform for B2B interactions, exhibitions, and sessions focused on specific states and sectors, Modi added. The event also features the Global Food Regulators Summit organized by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), which brings together international and domestic food safety regulators, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). Discussions at the summit will focus on critical topics such as food safety, quality standards, and emerging trends like food irradiation, plant-based proteins, and the circular economy.

Concluding his message, Prime Minister Modi called upon all participants to work together towards building a more sustainable, safe, inclusive, and nutritious global food system.

World Food India 2024 continues to serve as a testament to India’s leadership in food processing and agricultural innovation, cementing its role as a key player in the global food industry.
