President Droupadi Murmu will address the opening day of the fifth session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly on November 27, marking a significant occasion in the state’s legislative calendar.
According to an official notification issued on Monday, the winter session of the Assembly will commence on November 27 and continue till December 31, with scheduled breaks for weekends and public holidays.
The President’s address will set the tone for the session, outlining the government’s priorities and policy directions for the coming months. No other legislative business has been listed for the inaugural day, the notification stated.
This will be President Murmu’s first address to the Odisha Assembly since assuming office in July 2022. Her visit is expected to carry special significance, as she hails from Mayurbhanj district in the state.
Following the President’s address, the session is likely to focus on key legislative matters, including discussions on budgetary provisions, development projects, and welfare initiatives ahead of the new fiscal year.
Security and protocol arrangements for the President’s visit are being coordinated between the Assembly Secretariat, Raj Bhavan, and the state administration.
