President Murmu visits Army Training Command HQ in Shimla
The President of India and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Droupadi Murmu, on Friday visited the headquarters of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC) in Shimla, where she reviewed key training initiatives and operational preparedness of the Indian Army.
The President was received by Kavinder Gupta and Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC. During the visit, she was briefed on the evolution and pivotal role of ARTRAC in enhancing the operational efficiency of Army personnel through advanced training systems.
Senior officials highlighted several modern initiatives undertaken by ARTRAC, including the integration of drone training, adoption of niche technologies, introduction of ‘red teaming’ concepts, and increased focus on digitisation and automation within the Army’s training framework.
The President noted that ARTRAC plays a comprehensive role in shaping warfare strategies, developing resources, and strengthening engagements with friendly foreign nations and sister services. She described the command as a crucial pillar in advancing military excellence, self-reliance, and the vision of a developed India.
Emphasising its institutional strength, she said ARTRAC, through its 32 premier training establishments, contributes significantly to maintaining high standards of professionalism in the Indian Army and offers a unique perspective on modern warfare.
Murmu also held discussions with senior officials on further strengthening training mechanisms to ensure national security. She commended all ranks of ARTRAC and defence civilians for their dedication and urged them to continue working with greater commitment to enhance the Army’s operational readiness.
