PM Modi Marks 10 Years of Beti Bachao, Beti Padao Movement

Prime Minister Narendra Modi commemorated the 10th anniversary of the transformative “Beti Bachao, Beti Padao” movement on January 22, 2025, celebrating its significant role in overcoming gender biases and empowering the girl child in India.

In a series of posts on social media platform X, the Prime Minister highlighted the movement’s achievements, noting that it has become a people-powered initiative with widespread participation from citizens and organizations across the country.

“Over the past decade, the #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao movement has created the right environment to ensure that the girl child has access to education and opportunities to achieve her dreams,” PM Modi wrote.

He also praised the campaign’s success in improving the child sex ratio in historically low-performing districts. “Districts with historically low child sex ratios have reported significant improvements, and awareness campaigns have instilled a deeper sense of the importance of gender equality,” he added.

The Prime Minister extended his gratitude to all stakeholders, including community service organizations, for their grassroots efforts in making the initiative vibrant and effective. He urged citizens to continue their efforts to protect the rights of daughters, ensure their education, and create a society free from discrimination.

The Beti Bachao, Beti Padao movement, launched on January 22, 2015, aims to address the declining child sex ratio and promote the education and empowerment of girls. Over the past decade, it has evolved into a nationwide campaign with remarkable milestones, inspiring a shift in societal attitudes toward gender equality.

PM Modi concluded his message with a call to action, stating, “Together, we can ensure that the coming years bring even greater progress and opportunity for India’s daughters.”
