PM Modi Hails ISRO’s Feat, Encourages Scientific Curiosity in ‘Mann Ki Baat’
New Delhi, Feb 23 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) remarkable achievements, highlighting the successful launch of its 100th rocket. Speaking in the 119th episode of his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat,’ the Prime Minister underscored India’s continuous advancements in space technology, citing key missions like Chandrayaan, Mangalyaan, and Aditya L-1. He also praised ISRO’s milestone of launching 104 satellites in a single mission.
“Last month, the country witnessed the launch of ISRO’s 100th rocket. This is not just a number; it reflects our resolve to touch new heights in space science every day,” Modi said. Over the last decade, he noted, India has launched around 460 satellites, including those for other countries.
The Prime Minister also celebrated the increasing participation of women in the space sector, emphasizing the growing number of female scientists contributing to India’s space missions. “I am very happy to see that today, the space sector has become a favourite for our youth,” he added.
With National Science Day approaching, PM Modi encouraged students to develop a passion for science. He introduced the initiative ‘One Day as a Scientist,’ urging people to visit research labs, planetariums, or space centres to experience the scientific process firsthand. “Such experiences will enhance curiosity and deepen understanding,” he said.
Modi also highlighted India’s progress in artificial intelligence (AI), sharing his experience from a recent AI conference in Paris. “The world is recognizing India’s rapid advancements in AI. We are also witnessing how people in our country are leveraging AI in innovative ways,” he stated.
On the upcoming International Women’s Day, the Prime Minister announced a special initiative where he would hand over his social media accounts, including X and Instagram, to inspiring women across the country. These women will share their experiences and contributions, providing motivation to millions.
PM Modi also raised concerns about rising obesity rates, urging people to reduce edible oil consumption by 10 percent. Citing a World Health Organization (WHO) study, he said, “In 2022, about 250 crore people worldwide were overweight, having excess body weight beyond healthy limits.”
Discussing sports, he praised the recently concluded National Games in Uttarakhand, where over 11,000 athletes from across India showcased their talent. He noted Uttarakhand’s emergence as a sporting hub and appreciated the performance of its athletes. “With determination and discipline, India is progressing rapidly towards becoming a global sporting powerhouse,” he said.
Ahead of World Wildlife Day, Modi encouraged citizens to participate in wildlife conservation efforts. He lauded initiatives like those in Gujarat, where communities have contributed significantly to the protection of Asiatic lions in Gir. “They have shown the world what coexistence with nature truly means,” he remarked.
In his concluding remarks, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to students preparing for exams, urging them to approach the process with a stress-free and positive mindset. He also encouraged them to watch ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha,’ a programme aimed at easing exam-related stress and promoting overall well-being.
