PM Modi Interacts with Women’s World Cup 2025 Champions, Urges Players to Inspire Youth and Promote Fit India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 champion team at his residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi. The Indian women’s cricket team recently scripted history by defeating South Africa in the final on November 2, 2025, to clinch their maiden ICC Women’s World Cup title.
Congratulating the team for their remarkable achievement, the Prime Minister lauded their perseverance and unity, saying that their success has brought immense pride and joy to the nation. “Cricket in India is not just a sport but an emotion that unites the country,” he said, noting that the team’s victory has inspired millions, especially young girls, across India.
The Prime Minister praised the players for overcoming challenges and setbacks during the tournament, emphasizing that their determination and team spirit have made them true champions. He acknowledged how the players’ journey—marked by resilience, hard work, and self-belief—has set a new benchmark for Indian women’s cricket.
During the interaction, team members including Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma, and others shared their experiences, recalling both struggles and triumphs on their path to victory. The players expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his encouragement and recalled how his earlier words after the 2017 final loss had motivated them to strive harder.
Prime Minister Modi urged the cricketers to become ambassadors of change by sharing their success stories with students. He suggested that each player should visit at least three schools every year to interact with young learners, inspiring them to dream big and stay determined.
Highlighting the importance of health and fitness, the Prime Minister also encouraged the players to actively promote the Fit India Movement, particularly focusing on combating obesity and encouraging healthy habits among youth, especially girls. “Your words and actions can inspire a healthier and more confident India,” he said.
The interaction was marked by candid and lighthearted moments, with players sharing personal stories and humorous anecdotes. The Prime Minister appreciated their camaraderie, resilience, and commitment to teamwork, which he said reflected the spirit of New India.
Concluding the interaction, Shri Modi congratulated the entire team, coaches, and support staff, extending his best wishes for their future tournaments. “Every Indian feels immense pride in your victory,” he said, adding that their achievement would continue to inspire generations to come.
