PM Modi hails Union Budget 2026 as roadmap to Viksit Bharat
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has described the Union Budget 2026 as a historic, ambitious roadmap that lays the foundation for India’s journey towards a developed nation by 2047. Speaking via video message, the Prime Minister said the budget gives fresh energy to India’s Reform Express and reinforces the country’s global economic role.
Highlighting key priorities, Shri Modi said the budget accelerates Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, strengthens MSMEs, and empowers youth through skill development, innovation, and employment opportunities. He noted that the budget also prioritizes women-led self-help groups and modern infrastructure, including high-speed rail, dedicated freight corridors, waterways expansion, and urban development in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
“This budget is for Yuva Shakti, to nurture leaders, innovators, and creators across sectors,” the Prime Minister said, underscoring provisions to boost healthcare, the orange economy, tourism, gaming, and data center infrastructure. Special measures for agriculture, dairy, fisheries, and entrepreneurship in villages were also highlighted.
PM Modi praised Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting the ninth consecutive budget as a woman finance minister, noting that it strengthens the foundation of inclusive, human-centric economic growth while balancing fiscal discipline and capital expenditure.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India, while already the fastest-growing economy, aims to become the world’s third-largest economy, with this budget serving as a “highway of immense opportunities” for citizens and businesses alike.
