PM Modi Applauds Grassroots Efforts in India’s Fight Against Tuberculosis

New Delhi, March 26, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commended the relentless efforts of individuals and organizations working at the grassroots level to eradicate tuberculosis (TB) in India. His remarks underscore the growing momentum of the country’s mission to achieve a TB-free India.

In response to a post by Union Minister Shri JP Nadda on social media platform X, the Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the collective efforts driving India closer to its goal of eliminating TB.

“I compliment all those who are strengthening the fight against TB and contributing to a #TBMuktBharat. It is noteworthy how this effort is gaining momentum at the grassroots level, thus ensuring a healthier India,” PM Modi posted.

The government has been actively pushing forward the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), with an aim to eliminate TB in India by 2025—five years ahead of the global target set by the World Health Organization. Aided by technological advancements, community-led initiatives, and increased healthcare accessibility, the campaign has been gaining significant traction across the country.

Experts believe that the strong focus on early detection, treatment, and public awareness is playing a vital role in reducing TB cases. The Prime Minister’s words of encouragement are expected to further boost the morale of healthcare workers, volunteers, and organizations tirelessly working towards a TB-free India.

As the country continues its battle against tuberculosis, the collective efforts at the grassroots level remain pivotal in achieving the vision of a healthier and disease-free India.
