Odisha’s industrial vision boosts investor confidence

Odisha Charts New Growth Path, Emerges as Future-Ready Industrial Hub: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar, Jan 20 : Once known primarily for its steel, mining and heavy industries, Odisha is now transitioning toward high-value, modern sectors as part of a decisive shift in its industrial landscape, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Tuesday.

Highlighting the state’s move from a resource-driven economy to a technology-led manufacturing ecosystem, the Chief Minister said Odisha is positioning itself as a future-ready industrial powerhouse.

“We welcome investors operating in cutting-edge sectors. Come and invest in Odisha and be part of a future-ready economy,” Majhi said following the success of the Odisha Investors’ Road Show in Kolkata.

Focus on New-Age Industries

The state’s evolving industrial vision was showcased during the Odisha Investors’ Meets held in Hyderabad in December 2025 and Kolkata in January 2026. Both events, organised under the Chief Minister’s leadership, highlighted opportunities in emerging industries and signaled Odisha’s readiness for next-generation growth.

Six sector-specific roundtable discussions were conducted across both cities.

  • Hyderabad hosted deliberations on Pharmaceuticals and Aerospace & Defence.
  • Kolkata saw discussions on Hosiery, Apparel Accessories & Technical Textiles, Metal Downstream & Engineering Goods, Plastics, Chemicals, Packaging & Recycling, and Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices & Biotechnology.

A total of 123 company leaders took part in these engagements, resulting in investment proposals worth ₹1.67 lakh crore, with the potential to generate around 1.46 lakh employment opportunities, providing strong momentum to Odisha’s industrial push.

Aligned to National Vision

Majhi said Odisha’s strategy aligns with the national vision of Purvodaya, the state’s aspiration of achieving Samruddha Odisha by 2036, and contributing to Viksit Bharat by 2047.

“Ongoing reforms, infrastructure expansion and a skilled workforce are enabling Odisha to enter the new-age industrial space with clarity and confidence,” he added.

Infrastructure & Connectivity Advantage

The Chief Minister emphasised that Odisha offers the complete spectrum needed for new-edge industries—from ideation and innovation to production, logistics and global connectivity.

The state currently has:

  • Major ports at Paradeep, Dhamra, Gopalpur, Bahuda and Inchudi–Subarnarekha
  • Expanding air routes and robust road networks
  • Sector-specific industrial parks, MSME parks and SEZs offering plug-and-play facilities for accelerated implementation

Focus on Skilled Workforce

Recognising the importance of skilled manpower, the state government has announced plans to set up three new world-class Skill Centres at Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur and Berhampur to support balanced regional growth and boost employment.

Investor Confidence Rising

With strong policy support, expanding infrastructure, targeted skill development and increasing investor interest, Odisha is positioning itself as eastern India’s leading investment destination, Majhi said.

“Come to Odisha and be a part of this success story,” he reiterated.
