Odisha to Implement Ayushman Bharat Soon

Odisha CM Announces Ayushman Bharat Implementation Within Two Weeks
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced that the state will roll out the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) within the next two weeks.
Speaking at an Odisha Dibasa function in Cuttack district, CM Majhi emphasized the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to the people of the state. The decision to implement the Centre’s flagship health insurance scheme marks a significant policy shift in Odisha’s healthcare landscape.
Earlier, the state government had planned to launch the scheme on April 1, alongside its own Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. However, the implementation was postponed, though Majhi did not specify the reason for the delay.
“We are fully prepared to roll out Ayushman Bharat in Odisha. In the next two weeks, the people of the state will be able to avail the benefits of the scheme, ensuring affordable healthcare for all,” the Chief Minister said.
With this move, Odisha joins several other states in integrating the Centre’s flagship healthcare initiative, which provides an annual health coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family for secondary and tertiary care hospitalizations. The scheme is expected to benefit lakhs of families in Odisha, improving access to medical treatment for economically disadvantaged sections of society.
The implementation of AB-PMJAY in Odisha comes after prolonged discussions between the Centre and the state government. Under the new policy, eligible beneficiaries will have access to a wide network of empaneled hospitals for cashless treatment.
Health officials and policymakers have welcomed the decision, stating that it will help bridge the healthcare gap and strengthen the state’s medical infrastructure.
Further details regarding the enrollment process and hospital network under Ayushman Bharat in Odisha are expected to be released soon.
